Hi everybody! Tomorrow is the big day, I am going public. Yesterday I had the opportunity to chat with Georg Berger at his podcast about the experience in HumanIPO, working at Rappi and now launching my own startup Plerk, backed by YCombinator. Three learnings from this entrepreneurial experience I shared: - Be in love with the problem, no the product (solution). As a founder, you are trying to solve a problem, you will be trying a lot of different strategies to tackle it. If you fall in love with your product, it is possible that you will not be hearing to feedback or building something people wants, so you will fail in solving the problem. - Make something people want. How can you know what people want? Ask them. You need to be in touch with your customers, talk to them, ask them. Nothing is more powerful as a founder than customer's feedback. If you hear your audience and build for them, you are more likely to succeed. - Do things that don't scale. As you start your quest, you need to test a lot of ways to the things. The most difficult customer to close is the first one, and do you know what the second most difficult? the second one. That's why you need to do whatever it takes to sell more, go outside and exchange a doughnut for a download (as Rappi did in the beginning), do that call, go to that meeting, try not to automatize, do things that don't scale. Bonus: A founder that I admire shared time ago a quote that I loved: "Remember that 99% of startup problems are. solved by selling more" -Freddy Vega, CEO at Platzi YC W15 Join me at my IPO on April 13th, 2 pm EDT #GoingPublic
I was thinking about what I can do with the funds I receive from going public, and I've decided that 50% of all the funds received here at HumanIPO will be donated (on my discretion) to medical causes, such as people waiting for surgery, treatments, etc. Six months ago, the YC Comunity helped me and my wife to make possible her cranioplasty surgery, now it's time to give back.
